Adding and Managing MIME Type Overrides

MIME stands for Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions. It's a way of identifying files on the Internet according to their nature and format. For example, using the Content-type header value defined in a HTTP response, the browser can open the file with the proper extension/plugin. Servers insert the MIME header at the beginning of any Web transmission. Clients use this content type or Internet mediatype header to select an appropriate "player" application for the type of data the header indicates. Some of these players are built into the Web client or browser (for example, almost all browsers come with GIF and JPEG image players as well as the ability to handle HTML files); other players may need to be downloaded.

To override a MIME Type, click on Delivery Options and then the MIME Overrides submenu. The MIME Type Overrides screen, illustrated below, is displayed. Follow the steps below to add or mange the MIME Type Overrides associated with your account.
